I’ve been jockin “Kid Sister” for a few month’s now (thanks to Urb Magazine and Myspace) and now that I have her actual single “Control” on wax to appreciate, it’s about time to add upon her shine. I gotta say, Underground Hip-Hop B-Girls are on the rise (Jean Grey ahem?) who really don’t fit into the wonderful world of Commercial Rap and it’s flossin’ and use of “I’m dat b!tch” persona… At first glance, Kid Sister is super cute, I can’t deny that. Her mass appeal may be poised to break through an audience looking for a simpler gimmick from this sister… through her lyrics and creativity. Kid SIster has 16,268 myspace buddies… I’m sure that’s enough to spread the word… and it will spread!

Don’t front, Kid Sister resides in the windy City Chicago where Kanye West recently co-signed, including a remix featuring a verse of his own on his “Can’t Tell me Nothing mixtape for her single “Pro Nails” (“I-just-got-my-nails-did” pro-girl anthem, man… I hope she gets signed to Ye’s good music label!) Yes, her dj (J2K of Flosstradamus) is her real brother and she does work at a childrens clothing store. Let’s flip forward to her single “Control.” I really think you should kick summer anthems like “Umbrella” to the side for this to bump… it’s a guaranteed ass shake at the clubs. With a buzz of Electro Rock and that Neptunes vibe- the beats are simply melodic. Lyrically I hate comparing her delivery to KanYe’s but the female version. Her vocabulary is far more advanced, yet I can’t help notice the slurs and raspiness coming outta her lyrics… no doubt you can tell she’s having fun.

I can’t deny how much fun I have listening to Kid Sister. It’s good girl music gone fun. A total throwback and tribute to Hip-Hops Soul Clap funk and a promising future awaits her and her creativity. I can’t wait for the Album!
