With the slowdown of new releases this week, Its a good time for me to take the opportunity in reviewing a number of out-of-print and recently reissued (and hard to find) albums. Thanks to the good people oversea’s in Japan, the second reissue I have the chance to review is the Sophomore effort from “Show and AG” entitled “Goodfellas.” the follow up album to the critically acclaimed “Slave Train” debut. (also recently reissued)

Released three years after their debut , Goodfellas , featured a more darker and gully sound unlike their debut album. Guest appearances included Diamond D, D-Flow, Dres, Lord Finesse, DJ Premier, Roc Raida and Method Man . I don’t know if you guys remember the track Nyte Time Remix, produced by DJ Premier but it was later used in a battle scene on the movie 8 Mile starring Eminem. A lot of peeps have commented that this release is the real deal. That ear to the street real Hip-Hop banger. As much as I’d like to agree (and I do!), Goodfellas truly is a work of art to listen to. There are no gimmicks included in this album.No special R&B guest appearance or blinged out cover shoot. The album is limited to it’s core audience of “Real” hip-Hop heads that couldn’t be any happier. It’s a shame these types of releases are hard to come by these days.. There always seems to be a catch.

Be warned, prior to its reissue, Goodfellas was going for as high as $50 bucks on ebay! Last october I found Goodfellas on iTUNES for $9.99.A deal you can’t refuse, and you can preview it! The import runs $16.99-$20 dollars due to the fact that it’s an import. It is worth the price for the cover art, unfortunately there isn’t much content in the packaging sleeve, it’s mainly black and white. Overall- it’s the music you yearn for so cop it how you feel. Goodfellas does not disappoint, especially to it’s core Fans.
